A photoshoot at Marie Pampoen takes place on a quiet local beach between Mambo and Jan Thiel, just outside Willemstad. It’s shorter and calmer than the boulevard, with sand, a gentle waterline and the city a few minutes away.
You can drive straight there. No gate closes the beach, and you can park along the road or at the car park next to it.

Marie Pampoen is a beach where I like to shoot with a family or a larger group. There’s space. You don’t have to stand on a narrow strip, and a bigger group fits comfortably. We walk, we settle for a moment, and we shift along if someone walks through the frame.
At the weekend locals come here, and it gets busier, especially later in the day. During the week it is quieter. If I shoot here at the weekend, I choose an hour when it’s still manageable, or we move on.
If it’s the weekend and you want a calm evening with a group, Playa Kanoa is the better fit. It’s quiet and a very different spot: an open north coast, wind and little shelter, with plenty of room for a family or an extended family.
If you’re staying in Jan Thiel, near Mambo or in town, Marie Pampoen is often the short choice. You’re there in minutes, access is free and there’s room for a family or a group. You don’t have to cross the island first.
