A photoshoot at Playa Porto Marie takes place on the west side of Curaçao, close to Daaibooi and Sint Willibrordus. It’s a wide bay with white sand, clear water and a jetty reaching into the sea.
There is an entrance fee of 5 guilders (about $3). After 5 pm it’s often free, and locals know it. The beach closes at 6:30 pm, sometimes a little later. That is enough for sunset photos, depending on the season.
About Playa Porto Marie
- Entrance: 5 guilders (about $3), often free after 5 pm
- Closing: 6:30 pm, sometimes a little later
- Easy to reach, one short stretch of rough road
- A jetty and a boat on the shore
- Quieter after 5 pm
- Drive to the west side included
At Porto Marie you have room to walk. The jetty gives you a different angle from just sand and sea. On the shore lies a red, green and white boat, which I often use in the frame.
It’s a well-known beach with visitors. It’s busier during the day and calms down after 5 pm. That’s when I like to plan the shoot: there is still light, and still time before closing.

You see the water, the sand, the jetty and the boat. It’s not a tight bay. There is room, and a few fixed landmarks. A large group fits comfortably, even when it’s busy during the day.
Looking for something more compact, with cliffs? Then look at a photoshoot at Daaibooi Beach. Want a wider beach closer to town? Then a beach photoshoot in Curaçao at Blue Bay fits.
Staying on the west side of the island? Then Porto Marie and Daaibooi are close together, and we choose based on the light and how busy it is. More spots in that area are listed under photoshoot locations in Curaçao: west.

Does Porto Marie suit you? Tell me where you’re staying and whether you can make it after 5 pm. Then we’ll still have light until closing, and the beach is quieter.
